A LOOK INSIDE PHOTOGRAPHER ME RA KOH’S CAMERA BAG
Sony Artisan of Imagery Me Ra Koh’s work has been featured on VH1’s Fabulous Weddings, The Oprah Winfrey Show and Lifetime Television. Grace Ormonde’s premier
Wedding Style magazine named her and her husband, Brian, one their Masters of Craft photography teams. Here, we take a peek inside her camera bag.

CAMERA BODY WITH
A CARL ZEISS®
VARIO-SONNAR 24-
70MM F2.8 ZOOM LENS
“The a900 DSLR is my
favorite camera body for
shooting portraiture and
weddings,” says Koh, who
is one of Sony’s Artisans of
Imagery. “The precision and
speed, along with the amaz-
ing color results—what I see
is what I get ‘straight out of
the camera’—is incredible.
The 24-70mm lens is my first
workhorse lens because it’s
so versatile. I can get in close
for beautiful, buttery back-
ground portraits with the f/2.8
aperture, but I can also shoot
wide-angle group shots.”

F1.4 TELEPHOTO LENS
“My second workhorse
lens that I’ve shot whole
weddings with is the 85mm
on the a900 DSLR. It’s simply
beautiful to work with!”

ZOOM LENS
“I love being able to stand
back from the activity and
let the scene unfold, and
this lens gives me that
dynamic flexibility.”
transmits the image I take on
set to the screen for millions of
viewers to see. I also bring the
a55 DSLR to portrait shoots.
Some kids need me to keep
eye contact and feel discon-
nected if the camera is hiding
my face. The Live View on the
a55 is the perfect solution.”

5) MEMORY CARDS
“My memory cards range
from 4g to 32g in size, depending on what type of shoot I’m
doing. If I’m doing a portrait
shoot, I use the smaller-sized
cards as a mental exercise in
not overshooting. If I’m shooting a wedding event—which
can span a couple days—I’ll
use the 32g size cards for
efficiency in the field.”
8) CARL ZEISS
16-35MM F2.8 ZOOM
LENS
“Most of my work is cap-
tured with the 24-70mm lens
and fixed lenses, but I love
to throw in a wide-angle
perspective to add more
depth to the overall story.”
6) EXTERNAL HARD
DRIVE
“My team often starts to back
up my images on location.
Compact hard drives, like this
one, make the job easy and
portable.”
9) SONY HVL-F58AM
FLASH
“For weddings I bring two
external flashes. I use So-
ny’s HVL-F58AM because
it gives me the most ver-
satility for bouncing flash.
When I use external flash, I
want the results to look like
natural lighting and I get
those beautiful results with
the HVL-F58AM.”

NAR T 135MM F1.8
FIXED LENS
“When I’m working with a
full-frame sensor, like the
a900 DSLR, my favorite
lenses are the fixed lenses.
I love to shoot real low in
my f-stops, accentuating
the emotion of the story
with the intense degree of
blur in the foreground and
background.”
7) SONY A55 DSLR
CAMERA BODY
“When doing TV appearances
on The Nate Berkus Show, I
always shoot with the Sony
a55 camera body. Not only
is this camera fast, with its
Translucent Mirror Technol-
ogy, but the camera body
also reads the wireless Eye-Fi
card, which automatically
“I bring the 50mm f/2.8 Macro lens, 70-400 F4-5.6 Zoom Lens, an HVL-F58M flash, the NEX 5, a second external hard drive, multiple card read- ers, extra batteries, lens clothes and can’t forget lip gloss.” CAMERA BAG #2
