PIX SUMMER 2012
contents
Welcome to our premiere issue. If you love to snap photos, chances are
you’re pretty creative and artsy about
the rest of your world too. It’s important
to you that your business is modern
and cool, you’ve always got an eye out
for hip clothing and accessories, and
looking professional and shooting well
are top priorities. If this sounds like you,
PIX is here to help! On the following pages you’ll find tips,
ideas and trend reports for women in photography. Be sure
to click on pages 2 and 10 for our color trend reports (two of
my favorite articles in this issue). On page 4 you’ll find photo
shoot-proof makeup tips from Smashbox Cosmetics makeup
artist Lori Taylor. And once you’re all “done up,” slip into some
stylish, but practical flats for long days on your feet (page 5).
Maybe you’re looking to start a business or expand your existing one? On page 14 you’ll find Mindy Charski’s interview with
Michele Anderson on how to photograph newborn babies. On
page 7 blogger Heather Jennings shows us how to create her
incredible Anthropologie inspired paper lanterns that would
look great in your home, studio or office. (You will not believe
what can be created with $20 and the desire to craft.) There
are many other inspiring stories in this issue as well. If you are
reading this letter, thank you for downloading. PIX is our newest
project here at the Nielsen Photo Group and we look forward
to publishing many future issues. Go forth ladies! Create
beautiful work, love your craft and do it all in style.
